FishingBuddy matches anglers who want a partner, a mentor, or someone to mentor. Tell us what you're after, how you go about it, how experienced you are and where you are, and we'll show you people who line up. Your contact details stay private until you choose to share them.
How it works
- Sign in with your email. No password to remember; we send you a one-time link.
- Build your profile. Target species, how you fish (fly, ice, trolling, offshore…), the waters you like, your experience level, and whether you want a partner, a mentor, or someone to mentor.
- Set your area. A state or province, or a radius in miles around your ZIP or postal code.
- Get matched behind the scenes. Matching uses your full profile, but a match only sees your public card: one line like Experienced fly angler looking for Trout in Montana, plus a 1–100% match rating.
- Chat first. Message each other on the site. Nothing else is revealed.
- Share on your terms. When you're comfortable, show someone your full profile. When you're ready to meet, connect by sharing your contact details. Each step is yours alone to take, and you can block anyone at any time.
What's in a profile
- Experience: Never done it before · Beginner · Intermediate · Experienced · Pro / guide
- Fishing résumé: what you've taken and how many, e.g. 40 walleye, 3 muskie, 1 marlin.
- Gear & resources to share: boat, kayak, ice shelter, fly rods to lend, private dock, fish cleaning setup. Private until you share it, so nobody can go fishing for a boat.
- Photo gallery: up to 12 photos of your trips. Private until you share it.
