Jeep Wrangler (JL)
The fourth-generation Wrangler was shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of November 2017. It kept the solid axles, removable doors, and fold-down windshield, but saved weight with aluminum doors, hinges, hood, fenders, and windshield frame and a magnesium swing gate. It brought a turbocharged four-cylinder, an eight-speed automatic, an available Sky One-Touch power top, and far better cabin tech. Later came a 3.0 L EcoDiesel, the 4xe plug-in hybrid, and the 470 hp Rubicon 392, the first factory V8 Wrangler in nearly 40 years. A 2024 update added a slimmer grille, a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 screen, and side curtain airbags, and the JL was Motor Trend's 2019 SUV of the Year.

Notes
Jeep's press kit dates the reveal to November 28, 2017; Wikipedia says November 29. Wikipedia also lists assembly in Ranjangaon, India, for that market and a 2.2 L Multijet diesel for markets outside North America; not cross-checked. Height is Jeep's 2026 figure (73.6 in); Wikipedia gives 70.9 in. Towing was up to 3,500 lb at launch and up to 5,000 lb from 2024. Ground clearance is the maximum (35-inch tire models); the 2018 Rubicon was 10.9 in. The 2025 press release pairs the V6 only with the manual, while the 2026 and 2027 releases offer it with either transmission. EcoDiesel torque is 442 lb-ft in Jeep's releases and 443 lb-ft in Wikipedia. The 4xe's electric range was first given as up to 25 miles; the EPA figure is 21. Curb weight and fuel tank capacity not confirmed. The 2027 model year has been announced and is on order.
