Space rules and waiver

Everyone agrees to these before using the space. Under-18s also need a parent or guardian's agreement.

Check in every time you come: at the front desk, or with the check-in code at the door.

Wear closed-toe shoes. Tie back long hair, and keep loose clothing and jewellery away from machines.

Wear eye protection with every power tool, and hearing protection with loud ones. Use the dust collection and the ventilation.

Use a tool marked "needs a sign-off" only after staff have signed you off on it. If you're not sure how to use something, ask.

Don't use the welders, the table saw, or the lathe when you're alone in the space.

Report anything broken, damaged, or unsafe to staff right away, and don't use it.

Clean up as you go: put tools back, sweep up, and leave each machine ready for the next person.

Members under 18 need a parent or guardian's agreement before they can use the space.

Treat everyone with respect. theWorkshop can end the membership of anyone who puts others at risk.

Assumption of risk and release: using a workshop, its tools, and its machines carries a risk of injury. By agreeing, I confirm that I've read these rules, that I'll follow them and the directions of staff and instructors, and that I take part at my own risk. To the extent the law allows, I release theWorkshop, its board, staff, volunteers, and instructors from claims for injury, loss, or damage arising from my use of the space, except where caused by their gross negligence. I agree to first aid and emergency care if I need it.
