Jeep Grand Commander

2018 to 2022 · Midsize SUV · China Past model

The Grand Commander was a three-row Jeep made only for China by the GAC FCA joint venture, sitting above the locally built Cherokee. It also spawned a five-seat plug-in hybrid, Jeep's first electrified model in China, and ended when Stellantis pulled out of the venture in 2022.

The production version of the Yuntu concept, the Grand Commander was unveiled at the April 2018 Beijing show and went on sale in China that spring. It used a stretched version of the Cherokee's Compact U.S. Wide platform, a 2.0 L turbo four in two outputs, and a nine-speed automatic, with front-wheel drive or 4x4. A five-seat plug-in hybrid with a 13 kWh battery followed, first called the Commander PHEV, and a facelift arrived in late 2021. Sales were modest, and local production ended after Stellantis announced its exit from GAC FCA in July 2022.
