Jeep Compass (MK49)

Built in Belvidere alongside the Patriot and Dodge Caliber, the first Compass was the first Jeep with standard front-wheel drive, the first rated at 30 mpg on the highway, and the first Jeep compact SUV with standard side-curtain airbags. Its rounded, hatchback-like styling, often compared with the Dodge Caliber, set it apart from traditional Jeeps. A 2011 restyle gave it a Grand Cherokee-inspired face and, for the first time, a Trail Rated Freedom Drive II package, and a six-speed automatic arrived for 2014. It was replaced, together with the Patriot, by the second-generation Compass for 2017.

Notes

Production end: Wikipedia says early 2017 for the Compass, while the Patriot page and Allpar give December 2016 for both. Width: Wikipedia gives 69.3 in, Cars.com 71 in (rounded), so it is left null. Length 173.4 in (2008, Cars.com and Wikipedia) and 175.1 in (2016, Cars.com). Curb weight range combines Cars.com's 2008 Sport FWD base (3,014 lb) with Wikipedia's upper figure. Ground clearance 8.4 in is Jeep's 2007 North American figure; international models were quoted at 200 mm. The start year of the US 2.0 L engine on the Compass was not confirmed. The 2015 High Altitude package description is internally inconsistent in Jeep's release (Latitude 4x2 or 4x4, but also 4x4 with the six-speed only). Fuel tank: Cars.com lists about 14 gal (rounded), not confirmed further.
