Jeep Compass (third generation, J4U)

The third Compass moved to Stellantis' STLA Medium platform and is the first Jeep offered as a mild hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a battery-electric vehicle, with all-wheel drive on some versions. Production started at Melfi, Italy, on October 29, 2025, for about 60 markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. It has not been sold in North America: Stellantis had planned to build it in Brampton, Ontario, announced in October 2025 that North American production would move to Belvidere, Illinois, and later would not confirm that plan.

Jeep Compass (MP)

The second Compass debuted in Brazil in September 2016 and in North America at the Los Angeles Auto Show that November, and was built for customers in more than 100 countries. Riding on a stretched version of the Renegade's small-car platform, it replaced both the first Compass and the Patriot in North America and offered a Trail Rated Trailhawk with a 20:1 crawl ratio. A 2022 update brought a new cabin, Uconnect 5, and more standard safety equipment, and for 2023 a 200 hp 2.0 L turbo replaced the 2.4 L Tigershark. North American models come from Toluca, Mexico, and the Compass is Jeep's entry model there through 2027.

Jeep Compass (MK49)

Built in Belvidere alongside the Patriot and Dodge Caliber, the first Compass was the first Jeep with standard front-wheel drive, the first rated at 30 mpg on the highway, and the first Jeep compact SUV with standard side-curtain airbags. Its rounded, hatchback-like styling, often compared with the Dodge Caliber, set it apart from traditional Jeeps. A 2011 restyle gave it a Grand Cherokee-inspired face and, for the first time, a Trail Rated Freedom Drive II package, and a six-speed automatic arrived for 2014. It was replaced, together with the Patriot, by the second-generation Compass for 2017.
